The four methods we offer
There’s no single best method. The right one depends on your natural hair, how much length or density you want, your budget, and how much maintenance you want to take on.
Tape-in extensions. Pre-taped sections sandwiched onto small panels of your own hair, hidden near the root. Lighter to wear than most methods, fast to install, and easier to remove. Reapplied periodically as your hair grows out.
Hand-tied extensions. Hair tied onto a row of small beads attached to your natural hair, so the row of extension hair lays flat against your head. A common choice if you want added density across the back without bulk at the root.
K-tips (keratin-tipped fusion). Small, individual strand-by-strand applications bonded with keratin tips. Each one is small, so the placement is flexible. Reapplied as your hair grows.
Fusion extensions. A strand-by-strand method where the bonds are heat-fused to small sections of your hair. Like K-tips, fusion gives a lot of placement flexibility.
Clip-ins. Custom color-matched extensions you clip in yourself for the day or the event. No salon install required after the initial color-match, which is useful if you want length for specific moments without committing.
We carry K-tips and Bello Haven as our featured brands. Both give us hair we trust to color-match and to wear well between appointments when cared for properly.
Why this is a consultation
Two reasons. First, price depends on how many bundles or strands you actually need, which depends on the density you want and your natural hair. Second, the method that’s right for you isn’t obvious from a photo. Fine hair, oily roots, an active gym schedule, a tight ponytail you wear every day at work, all of that changes which method we’d recommend. We’d rather get this right at the consult than sell you the wrong thing.
A consult also gives us time to color-match your hair to the extension hair before your install appointment, which matters more than people think.
Color-matching and combining with color services
If you want extensions and you’re also planning color work, tell us at the consult so we can plan the order properly. Sometimes we color your natural hair first; sometimes we match the extensions to a color we already know you wear; sometimes we tone the extensions before install. We finish with Kérastase and R+Co at home. Extensions need the right shampoo and conditioner to hold tone and condition; we’ll send you out with honest product picks instead of a long list.
Damage and upkeep
Any extension method puts some additional weight and tension on your natural hair. Whether that’s a problem depends on the method, your install density, how you care for the hair at home, and how regularly you come in for maintenance.
What we will commit to: at your consult we’ll be honest about whether your hair is in a place to wear extensions right now, which method puts the least stress on it given your situation, and what the upkeep schedule looks like for that method. If we don’t think extensions are a good idea for you yet, we’ll say so.
The stylists installing your extensions
Every stylist at The Parlour finishes our Advanced Education Program: 6 to 12 months of in-house training plus two annual events with guest artists at the top of the industry. After that, stylists start at Level 1 and grow into higher levels as their clientele builds. The standard we hold every stylist to is the same, regardless of who you book.
For extensions specifically, you’ll be matched with a stylist trained in the method you’ve chosen. If you’re not sure which method fits, the consult is the right starting point.

Everyone. All gender identities, all hair types, all backgrounds. Capitol Hill is one of Denver’s most diverse neighborhoods and our salon operates that way as how we run, not as a tagline. Whether you want a full head of hand-tied for density, a few K-tips for length around the face, or clip-ins for a specific event, you can book here without pre-explaining yourself.
