The four methods we offer
Tape-in extensions. Thin panels of hair attached with a medical-grade adhesive tape, sandwiched against your own hair near the root. Lightweight, comfortable, and one of the gentler installed methods. Tape-ins are a popular starting point for people who want to try installed extensions without committing to fusion or beaded rows.
Hand-tied extensions. Rows of hand-tied hair attached to a beaded foundation in your own hair. Lays flat, blends well in finer hair, and lets us add real density without weight in any one spot. The install is more involved than tape-ins and the maintenance schedule reflects that.
K-tip extensions. Small, individual strands with a keratin tip. We install them strand by strand, which makes them flexible to place and good for adding fullness in specific areas. We carry the K-tips brand for this method.
Fusion extensions. Individual strands fused to your hair with a small bond. Long-wearing and great for fine hair when installed by a stylist who knows the method well. Removal and reinstallation need to be done properly to protect your hair.
Clip-ins are also available if you want length or density for events without a salon install. We can color-match a clip-in set to your current color so it looks like yours when you put it in.
Featured brands: K-tips for K-tip installs, Bello Haven for hand-tied. Both are brands we trust to hold up against Denver’s dry climate and the heat tools that come with it.
Why pricing is by consultation
We don’t publish prices for installed extensions because the honest answer changes from person to person. The cost depends on:
- How much hair you need (a few rows for density vs. a full head for length)
- The method (tape-in, hand-tied, K-tip, fusion)
- The brand and the quality of hair
- Whether we need to color your natural hair to match, or color the extensions to match you
How much install time your hair actually requires
So we do a consultation first. You’ll leave knowing the method we recommend, the cost of the hair, the cost of the install, the maintenance schedule, and roughly what you’re looking at over a year of upkeep. No surprises at the chair.
Color-matching and combining with color services
Color match is where extensions live or die. We custom-tone or pre-lighten extensions when needed so they sit inside your existing color, not on top of it. A lot of our extension clients also book balayage or dimensional color, either before the install or as part of an ongoing schedule. If you’re already booking blonde work, see our balayage page. Damage and upkeep
Any installed extension method puts some load on your own hair. Done by a trained stylist with the right method for your hair, the load is small and your hair stays healthy. Done wrong, with the wrong method, the wrong placement, or skipped maintenance appointments, extensions can absolutely damage your hair.
We’d rather tell you “this method isn’t right for you” than install something that won’t hold up. If your hair is very fine, recently bleached, or already fragile, we may recommend clip-ins, a different installed method, or a few months of bond-building treatments before we install anything. That’s part of why we consult first.
Why your stylist matters here
Every stylist at The Parlour completes our Advanced Education Program after beauty school: 6 to 12 months of in-house training, plus two annual events with world-renowned guest artists. After that, they start at Level 1 and grow with their clientele. Extensions are a service where training really shows, in placement, in tension, in color match, in the way they sit after a week of real life. Whoever you book, you’re getting a stylist who’s been put through the same training.
We carry Kérastase and R+Co for at-home care, which we’ll pair to your hair and your extensions when you check out. Installed hair needs the right shampoo and conditioner. We’ll show you which ones and why.

Depends on your hair and your goal. Fine hair often does well with hand-tied or tape-in. Thicker hair that wants targeted density may suit K-tips. Fusion is great for long-wear on fine to medium hair installed correctly. Clip-ins are best if you want flexibility without a salon install. We’ll recommend a method during your consult.
Properly installed and maintained by a trained stylist, the load on your natural hair stays small. Improperly installed or under-maintained, they can cause breakage. We’ll be honest about whether your hair is ready for the method you’re asking about, and what to do if it isn’t yet.
