Our RiNo salon sits on Blake Street in the heart of the River North Art District, and hair color is the bulk of what we do here. We’ve been in this neighborhood since 2017, and the team has built a real reputation for color that ranges from clean, classic grown-up blonde to the kind of expressive, creative work that fits the art-district crowd around us.

The color services we offer in RiNo
Every appointment starts with a real conversation. We look at your hair in natural and salon light, talk through what you’ve done to it in the past year, what you wash with at home, and what you want this color to do for your life. From there we build a plan that’s honest about timing, maintenance, and what’s possible in one sitting versus a few.
Root retouch (from $84). A clean refresh on your natural color regrowth. Quickest appointment on the menu and the right call if you’re already on a maintenance schedule.
All-over color (from $97). A single tone applied root to ends. Good for going darker, going richer, covering gray fully, or refreshing a faded all-over color.
Partial highlights (from $140 maintenance, from $154 virgin). Highlights through the top and sides where the sun would naturally lift. Virgin pricing is your first time; maintenance is for clients we already see.
Full highlights (from $154 maintenance, from $167 virgin). Full head including the back and underneath. The right call when you want overall brightness or a major lift.
Retouch with dimension (from $194). Your regular root retouch plus a foil refresh in the same visit so your color reads cohesive top to bottom.
Foilyage, baby lights, teasy lights, root shadow (each from $167). Different techniques for different goals: foilyage for brighter lived-in blonde, baby lights for soft fine dimension, teasy lights for blended grow-out, root shadow to soften a hard line.
Balayage (from $194). Hand-painted, lived-in, lower-maintenance color. If this is what you’re after, we have a dedicated balayage page.
Gray blending and full gray coverage. Two different goals. Blending weaves in lighter pieces so the gray reads as dimension instead of a separate stripe. Full coverage masks the gray completely with a root retouch or all-over color. Both are valid; the right one depends on how much gray you have and how often you want to come in.
Tone, glaze, gloss (priced by consultation). A finishing service that shifts warmth, kills brass, or adds shine. Often added to other color work; sometimes booked on its own between appointments.
Color correction and creative or transformational color (priced by consultation). When you’re moving across a big distance (dark to blonde, box dye to balanced, vivids and fashion shades), we quote it in person after looking at your hair. Creative color is a meaningful part of our book here, and the RiNo team really gets to play with it.
The stylists doing your color
Every colorist at The Parlour finishes our Advanced Education Program after beauty school. It runs 6 to 12 months and includes in-house training plus two annual events with world-renowned guest artists. After that, stylists start at Level 1 and grow into higher levels as their clientele and skills build.
Pricing reflects experience level, which is why you’ll see “starting from” numbers above. Whoever you book, the standard we hold them to is the same. If you want a specific stylist, tell us who; if you want our help matching you, tell us that instead and we’ll suggest someone based on what you’re trying to do.
Products we use
We color with Wella and finish with Kérastase or R+Co at the bowl when your hair needs the support. We carry all three so you can keep that condition going at home. If you’ve invested in color, the shampoo and conditioner you use between visits matter more than people think, and we’ll send you out with honest recommendations.
Who this salon is for
Everyone. All gender identities, all hair types, all backgrounds. If you’ve felt out of place at salons before, you won’t here. Whether you’re growing out a transition, blending gray for the first time, or fixing a color that went sideways at home, you can book here without explaining yourself first.
Booking your color appointment
We’re open seven days a week with extended evening hours. That’s the practical reason a lot of our RiNo regulars chose us. If you work downtown or in the neighborhood and you can’t take a Tuesday afternoon off for a four-hour color session, we have you covered. Same-day openings happen but they’re not the rule. For color, especially anything involving lift or correction, a few days of lead time gives us the best shot at scheduling enough chair time to do the work properly.

Both. Full gray coverage usually means an all-over color or a root retouch on a regular schedule. Gray blending uses lighter pieces woven through so the gray reads as dimension instead of regrowth. We’ll talk through which approach fits your hair and your routine at the consultation.
Any color service that’s fixing or undoing something: a box color that didn’t go to plan, brassy tones that toner alone won’t address, banding from years of overlapping color, or moving from one color family to another. Because every starting point is different, we price corrections in person after seeing your hair.
Most clients land somewhere between four and eight weeks depending on how fast you grow out, how high-contrast your color is, and how visible your regrowth feels to you. We’ll suggest a cadence at your appointment.
